One Model Railway Club

The model railway club for railway staff

History

The One Model Railway Club was set up in 2005 by a group of railway staff who noticed there was a lot of people in the industry who were interested in model railways but were not part of a club.

We provide both a social and modelling place. As well as railway modelling, we go on days out by rail and visit other exhibitions.

Since its formation, we have been based in Stowmarket. The club was forced to suspend meetings in 2009 after we were evicted by National Express to make way for an Indian restaurant & takeaway. However, this failed to materialise and with thanks to some of our colleagues, we returned to the clubrooms in 2010.

In 2008, the club held its first ever model railway exhibition at the Needham Market Community Centre. It was a success, and has become an annual event.

All our members are either active or retired railway workers and model in N or OO gauge and from various eras from the 1950s through to the present day.
